Invader Zim is an American animated television series created by Jhonen Vasquez for Nickelodeon.
Premise
The series centers on an extraterrestrial named Zim from the planet Irk, and his mission to conquer Earth and enslave the human race alongside his malfunctioning robot servant GIR. He is antagonized by Dib, a young paranormal investigator who is determined to stop Zim.
Why It Was Cancelled
Many seemed to think it was because of parents complaining about the show's dark content making it inappropriate for its target audience, children. Vasquez was facing conflict with Nickelodeon, feeling that they were toning down the show he wanted to make, which had an edgier side to it. But in reality, it was because of ratings, with the show attracting more adults than children. If it wasn't attracting the audience it was going for, then it seemed best to shelve the whole thing. And thus, the series fell into obscurity.
Revival film
In April 4th 2017, Nickelodeon announced that there will be a 66 minute television film for the series.
