Spider-Man: The Animated Series, also known as New Spider-Man in Great Britain, is an American animated television series based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. It was created for Fox Kids and was one of several animated Marvel shows released in the 1990s on that channel.
The series focuses on Spider-Man and his alter ego Peter Parker during his college years at Empire State University. As the story begins, Peter has already gained his superpowers and is a part-time freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle. Over the course of the series, Peter must contend with several classic villains, including the Kingpin, Green Goblin, the Lizard, the Shocker, etc., as well as the romantic love interests of Mary Jane Watson, Felicia Hardy and her alter ego, the Black Cat. Classic superheroes such as the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Daredevil, Blade, Doctor Strange, the Punisher and Captain America also make appearances.
Why It Was Cancelled Edit
The reason was because Margaret Loesch, head of Fox Kids, wanted to put series co-creator Avi Arad and Marvel Films Animation out of business. It did not work and the company was shut down. However, the show was still cancelled because of a personal vendetta.
