Star Trek is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. It later required the retronym of Star Trek: The Original Series (Star Trek: TOS or simply TOS) to distinguish it within the media franchise that it began.
The show is set in the Milky Way galaxy, roughly during the 2260s. The ship and crew are led by Captain James T. Kirk, first officer and science officer Spock, and chief medical officer Leonard McCoy, who set out into space on a five-year mission exploring strange new worlds and seek out new life and civilizations.
Why It Was Cancelled Edit
The series, while popular, suffered from low ratings. However, reruns of the series led to it gaining a cult status and spawning a massive franchise including muiltiple TV shows, films, books, etc., making its mark as a part of pop culture.
